1. To kick things off: Tell our audience a bit about the origin story of your Band.
the band was founded in 1993 in munich, we changed our name from Lizard to S.P.Q.R to Steamhammer and finally to StormHammer and released our first album in 2000. since then we released several albums, in July now Wrath of the Hammer.
2. Tell us about your new project?
I think you mean Wrath, we wanted to step a bit back to the style of Welcome to the end, so we picked up the trashy elements.
3. If you had to describe the sound of your Band to someone who hasn’t heard you yet: What would you say?
it’s a mixture of traditional Power metal, with trashy guitar riffs, harmonic guitar solo parts and epic keyboard sound
4. How has the songwriting evolved with the band over the years? What does that process look like for you lately?
5. Outside of metal, what books, Video Games, movies, or life events leave a mark on your music?
for me personally I’m a fan of the fantasy genre, Lord of the rings, game of thrones, fantasy role games.
6. What are some of the recurring themes or messages you find yourself exploring in your lyrics?
I think we have some stories all in a fantasy world, I think this is quite good to add some messages.
7. What is one song you’ve written that you feel captures the absolute core identity of the band?
I think the title song wrath of the hammer is a good example, that one got all main aspects of the band, style in it.
8. Do you find your energy translates better in an intimate club style venue or a massive festival setting?
I personally like smaller club gigs in a packed benue, but playing in front of 1000 people in a bigger venue is also a highlight. to be honest we didn’t played much big festivals, but I’m felling a bit lost on a huge stage where your bandmates are often a great distance away.
9. Which Artists or Band inspired you to be in a Band?
my favorite bass players are Phil Lynott, Steve Harris and Chris Squire and the bands there were in .
10. If you could sit down and collaborate with any Artist or Band right now, who would be at the top of your list and Why?
Hansi Kürsch, he is an outstanding singer or Doro Pesch. We had been on tour with both and it was awesome.
11. What’s the current Pulse of the Metal Scene from your perspective?
There are a lot of bands and a wide range ot styles. But for me there are only a few realy interesting new bands and the older bands quits one after another. So I’m curious who wil headline Wacken the next years.
12. Are there any endorsements or gear brands you’re currently working with that you’d like to shout out?
I’m playing Bogart Basses, they are handmade basses from Germany, for me they have the perfect sound.
13. What does your tour calendar look like? Any big shows or festivals we should be made aware of?
Not at the moment, we sent out many applications for festivals next year and we also try to get a support slot for a tour in autumn or spring but sadly nothing is confirmed yet.
