1. What is your Band Name? Angels on the Battlefield
2. To kick things off: Tell our audience a bit about the origin story of your Band.
Angels on the Battlefield originally started back in 2012 as a “for fun” passion project. It wasn’t until 2021 (with some encouragement from Jason, our bassist) to start moving forward with things seriously.
3. If you had to describe the sound of your Band to someone who hasn’t heard you yet: What would you say?
AOTB sounds like epic and symphonic melodic prog metal.
4. How has the songwriting evolved with the band over the years? What does that process look like for you lately?
The process has relatively maintained the same since the beginning. Usually there’s some sort of strong emotional impulse to start piecing things together (usually on guitar first), and the songs seem to just write themselves through our fingers. Inspiration comes from different places, though. Sometimes it’s an experience we’ve gone through, and sometimes it’s a piece of literature.
5. What was the inspiration for your band name? What meaning does it have behind it?
The band name is meant to represent the dichotomy of ‘good and evil’ we all face in life. The imagery of an Angel (what many people see as absolute perfection, short of being a deity) placed in what we consider literal Hell on Earth. The AOTB name is also an analogy for each of us as individuals, and how we always have the strength to conquer any literal or emotional battlefield that we may face in our lives.
6. What are some of the recurring themes or messages you find yourself exploring in your lyrics?
Even though we’re an instrumental band, we often explore themes of self confidence, and finding the strength to face the difficulties of inner struggle.
7. What is one song you’ve written that you feel captures the absolute core identity of the band?
‘On the Wings of Dragons’ feels like our perfect flagship song. It was written as a inspirational anthem for listeners, and combines groovy guitar rhythms, melodic themses, and cinematic style orchestration.
8. Do you find your energy translates better in an intimate club style venue or a massive festival setting?
We try our best to have our energy translate to whatever environment we’re in. Our energy level is always the same, we just find the best way to mold our performance to fit the venue and environment.
9. Which show performance stands out as your all time favorite? is there a specific reason?
Surprisingly, AOTB has not had all that many live performances, considering how long we’ve been around. We can’t pinpoint a single performance either, but we’re extremely happy with how our debut tour last fall turned out.
10. Which Artists or Band inspired you to be in a Band?
That is such a long list, but some key names are bands like Black Sabbath, Killswitch Engage, and In Flames.
11. If you could sit down and collaborate with any Artist or Band right now, who would be at the top of your list and Why?
We’d love to work with Bear McCreary. We think what he’s been doing with his metal records is outstanding!
12. What’s the current Pulse of the Metal Scene from your perspective?
Metal is absolute alive and thriving! There are so many different artists and subgenres! There is definitely a flavor of metal for everyone.
13. Are there any endorsements or gear brands you’re currently working with that you’d like to shout out?
Angels on the Battlefield is endorsed by Troubadour Amplification
14. What does your tour calendar look like? Any big shows or festivals we should be made aware of?
At the moment we don’t have anything booked, but we’re aiming to fill up our fall calendar.

DIary of a Madman by Ozzy Osbourne
16. What was the very first metal concert you ever went to?Â
