Interview with the band ANA

(1) Could you tell our readers about your band ANA? – What kind of music do you perform, when was it established, etc.?

We refer to our style as couture metal. It’s a fashion inspired approach to metal that is luxurious and sophisticated.

(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?

Every member in ANA has vastly different musical interests. Ranging from Lara Fabian, Buddy Guy, KISS, Versailles and Avenged sevenfold.

(3) Who came up with the cover art for the new single HATE ME?

Anna Khristenko came up with the idea and Aaron Mak shot the photo in our garage. The image was then edited and digitally enhanced by Martin Yeoh.

(4) Who wrote the lyrics for your new single HATE ME, how did they come to be?

The lyrics were predominantly written by Josh Mak and Anna Khristenko. They were inspired by our experiences dealing with certain people and aspects of the music industry.

(5) How would you describe your band’s unique sound?

It’s a marriage of innovation and nostalgia that birthed a new sound.

(6) What is the metal scene in Australia like?

The scene here has some more traditional metal styles and also a lot of modern metal bands from all various sub genres. Things have slowed down in recent years but there are stil many live music venues and festivals around.

(7)Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether (Venues or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Due to our style of performing we prefer venues with larger stages that enable us to move more freely. However, I believe our best performance was at the Hokage Bar in Osaka, Japan.

(8) What is your songwriting process for the new album coming out?

We booked a rehearsal studio for 2 days, 5 hour sessions each day and we jammed and worked on ideas. After the 2 days we had the album written and then spent the next few months fine tuning and recording the parts at our home studio.

(9) Who would you most like to collaborate with?

I think doing a track with Cardi B would be cool.

(10) What are the main themes or messages in your lyrics?

There aren’t really main themes. We often write about whatever it is that we fell at the time. The common thread between all of them is that they are all related to the human condition.

(11) Do you have endorsements that you want to talk about or share?

Our guitarist Josh Mak is endorsed by Ormsby guitars and has a brand new custom guitar that is going to be featured at the Sydney Guitar Show this year. Other brands we endorse are Quantum Industries, Rockboard by Warwick and ACS in ears.

(12) Would you like to share any shows or festivals coming up?

We begin our Asia Tour in May 2026 promoting the new album. We will be coming to Singapore, Thailand, South Korea and Japan where we will join Japanese steampunk metal legends, Fate Gear on select shows.

(13) How and where can your fans contact you? What about you and social networks?

Our fans can reach out to us on all social media platforms, @ana.bandofficial
