(1) Could you tell our readers about your band SINTAGE? – What kind of
music do you perform, when was it established, etc.?
Julez: Sintage is a heavy metal band founded by our singer Randy and
myself after we met at a concert in Leipzig back in 2019. Right after we got
known to each other we started the band to play traditional hardrockin’
heavy metal with lots of energy. After some years we finally established a
steady lineup with Andre (Drums), Marcus (Bass guitar) and Chili (Electric
Guitar). Throughout many gigs and the recording of our new album
‘Unbound Triumph’ we manifested our vision of guitar driven music.
Andre: And also a sincere heavy metal band! We are a bunch of kids who
love heavy music, hang out outside and come together with simultaneous
spirit to continue the existence of Heavy Metal!
(2)
Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?
Julez: Speaking for myself I have to mention AC/DC and Iron Maiden, who
inspired me since the very beginning. Through the years I absorbed so
much more influences, mainly from the NWOBHM, but also some Swedish
stuff, Punkrock and more extreme Metal.
Andre: Dave Lombardo, Nico McBrain, Mikkey Dee and Travis Barker.
(3) Who came up with the album cover?.
Julez: After our first EP ‘The Sign’ and the following debut full length
‘Paralyzing Chains’, which both had followed a related visual concept, it
was clear that we wanted to conclude the story with another cover
representing the rocker in his fight against that snake. On the last record it
seemed that the rocker was lost in the metaphorical chains of the snake, so
I came up with the idea that now it’s time for fighting back in triumph (hint to
the album title!). Overall, the record’s feeling and lyrical concept follows the
theme of never givin’ up especially since there are some very personal and
serious topics on that.
Didier Normand then perfectly captured the spirit of the album and its
meaning on that cover!

Who wrote the lyrics for your album Unbound Triumph, how did they
come to be?
Julez: The majority of the lyrics were written by Randy and me. Together
with Marcus we then got them into shape. This time there are very personal
themes going on, as written in the last question. But we always focus on
not giving in, not sounding too sentimental and finding a lyrical way out of
the darkness that sometimes surrounds the songs.
(5) Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the graphics
and the website? What about you and social networks?
Julez: The original logo concept was created by our good pal Maik (best
known as the former singer of Peace of Hearse, Serpent, Tension or
Firmament). He based it on the Formel 1 logo (one of the best known GDR
heavy metal bands) and we’re still very happy with it
The job of caring for our social media stuff and websites goes to myself.
(6) How many Shows have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer,
whether (Venues or festivals) and which of your performances would you
consider as the best?
Andre: I unfortunately can’t remember how much, but I can tell you my
favorite venues or festivals, it was Detze rockt!
Julez: Overall we played like 30-40 gigs or something like that, including
festivals, small DIY shows and some bigger venues supporting bigger
bands. Yeah one of our best shows was definitely at last years edition of
the Detze Rockt Festival, but also Trveheim Festival back in 2023.
I don’t prefer venues over festivals, for every gig is magical as long as
we’re tight, have lots of fun and we get the audience to lose themselves in
the performance, too. That’s the Spirit of the Underground!
(7)
who came up with the name of the new album?
Julez: This was also my idea after I had the fitting cover idea in mind
(which also was inspired by Frazetta’s “Against the Gods”). Everything
came together (the visuals, the music, the lyrics) and the title was perfect
for this kinda euphoric feeling.
(8) Would you like to share what endorsements you have?
Andre: Paiste and Ludwig
Julez: Right now I play an original ‘74 Ibanez Les Paul and a ‘83 Ibanez
Destroyer (Yeah cherry red…shoutout to Mr. Adrian Smith!). For the best
guitar sound you have to play a Marshall Amp.
(9) When on the road what is your favorite food to eat?
Andre: Any kind of noodle and of course, brot, the most delicious one.
Julez: Bananas, bread (with cheese and hummus) and beer….but
sometimes (always) we also bow down to the crown of Burger King.
(10)
How and where can your fans contact you?
Julez: Bandcamp, Instagram, Facebook, mail (sintage.rock@gmail.com).
But face to face at gigs would be best! We’re always in for a good talk!
