Death By Metal Radio Interview with the band Xion

1.) To kick things off: Tell our audience a bit about the origin story of your Band.

It really started through school, the guys got to know each other that way, and the singer joined a bit later after seeing them play.

2.) If you had to describe the sound of your Band to someone who hasn’t heard you yet: What would you say?

It would be a crossover from a heavy, melodi and fast way of playing metal.

3.) How has the songwriting evolved with the band over the years? What does that process look like for you lately?

Erik is the driving force behind the songwriting. His ability to visualize notes and melodies is incredible. He usually writes most of the material, and then the rest of us step in to help, of course.

4.) What was the inspiration for your band name? What meaning does it have behind it?

Haha! We thought “Xion” sounded cool. Erik and Johan were trying to come up with a name that would fit, and eventually they came up with Xion.

5.) What are some of the recurring themes or messages you find yourself exploring in your lyrics?

Oh, I don’t think we’re trying to stick to any specific theme or anything like that. Instead, we’re writing songs based on where we are in life right now—covering everything from emotions to events.

6.) What is one song you’ve written that you feel captures the absolute core identity of the band?

Thats such a hard one haha! Maybe we choose either ”Burned Onto You” or ”Hands Will Be Cut” Who will come out 11th Sep on our new album

7.) Do you find your energy translates better in an intimate club style venue or a massive festival setting?

Our fans are always great and give us so much energy. There are two seperate things. We’ll come alot closer to the fans with club style. And the fans are everything for us So as long as we can come close with our fans it dosent affect the translates

8.) Which show performance stands out as your all time favorite? is there a specific reason?

Sweden Rock Festival 2024 was a really special one! Thats was our first really big venue and wow, so much memories

9.) Which Artists or Band inspired you to be in a Band?

So many of them, Maiden,Judas,Slayer,Metallica just to name a few

10.) If you could sit down and collaborate with any Artist or Band right now, who would be at the top of your list and Why?1 response

Would be so cool to do a song with Anthrax or Kreator, such a cool sound, and great song writhers

11.) What’s the current Pulse of the Metal Scene from your perspective?

The pulse is high, we think theres a lot of bands right now who are doing great and produce good songs

12.) Are there any endorsements or gear brands you’re currently working with that you’d like to shout out?

We would like to give a big shoutout to Musikcenter Borlänge

13.) What does your tour calendar look like? Any big shows or festivals we should be made aware of?

We are doing some shows with our release of ”When Stars Collide” (11th Sep. Also working on a tour in Germany Later in august we are playing with ”Troops Of Doom” that will be cool

14.) What is your very first Metal album you ever bought ?

Mine was ”Iron Maidens Iron Maiden”

15.) What was the very first metal concert you ever went to? 

Iron Maiden in Stockholm 2006 on their A Matter Of Life And Death tour
