Interview with Cadaver

(1) Could you tell our readers about your band Cadaver? – What kind of music do you perform, when was it established, etc.?

The band was founded in 1988 after a band called “Baphomet” imploded. We were determined to find our own style within music and were tagged death metal early on.

(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?

Kiss and Beatles early on – but for Cadaver:  Mayhem, Celtic Frost, Voivod, Slayer and Kreator + + +

(3) Who came up with the cover art for the album Hallucinating Anxiety?

We had a cover in 1990 that did not represent our aim or lyrics at all. We were never into gore, but the failing human condition. This new artwork fits the music much better and we are very happy to get the album out this way both visually and sonicly.

(4) Who wrote the lyrics for your new album, how did they come to be?

It’s all written by me and / or Ole Bjerkebakke, the other founding member. We just wanted to explore horrific themes and describe the anxiety of man.

(5)Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the graphics and the website?

I drew the logo in a christendom class at school. It represents the black death with bubonic rotten tumors of black blood. We have many contributors to our graphics, but “website”? In 2025 websites are SoMe aren’t they?

(6) How many shows  have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether (Venues or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

in total? man, 35 years of gigs – it must be in the hundreds, but not over 1000. We prefer clubs for having contact with the audience, but festivals for money and fun places to go.

(7)Can you tell us about the name of the new album Hallucinating Anxiety? What’s the Inspiration behind it?

Anxiety and the isolation of being in Norway at the time was crucial.

(9) Do you have endorsements that you want to talk about or share?

I am lucky to have several contacts in the instrument business and I play ESP guitars, Warwich bass, GHS strings, Dunlop pick, Neural DSP studio plugins and Richter straps.

(10) Would you like to share any shows or festivals coming up?

We have 4 more club shows this autumn/winter.

28.11 Hulen, Bergen, Norge

29.11 Tribute, Sandnes, Norge

5.12 Fredagsmangel, Jakobsberg/Sthlm, Sverige

6.12 Abyss, Göteborg, Sverige

We also play the Satan Festival in Iceland in June. https://satan-festival.com/

(11) How and where can your fans contact you? What about you and social networks?

Instagram is where we like to interact with fans. https://linktr.ee/CADAVERtheBAND
