(1) Could you tell our readers about your band Blood Of The Wolf ? – What kind of music do you perform, when was it established, etc.?
We are a blackened death metal closest in style to Belphegor, older God Dethroned, Marduk and Vader. The band was officially started in 2013, though the songs that became Blood of the Wolf’s music was written as far back as 2011/2012.
(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?
In addition to the bands I listed above, I would say Morbid Angel, Angel corpse, Infernal War, Slayer and others.
(3) Who came up with the cover art for the album V: Indomitable ?
The artwork was created by a guy I found on Instagram. He goes by _blinding faith_. I thought his art was very fitting.
(4) Who wrote the lyrics for your new album V: Indomitable, how did they come to be?
I write the lyrics. I always write the music first and then write lyrics to fit the song. It’s the hardest part of the process for me. I try to avoid sounding cliché or cheesy. I try to be as descriptive as possible and choose words that will have the most impact.
(5) Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the graphics and the website?
I created the logo and I do the graphic design. I really like working with Photoshop. I prefer it to writing lyrics! We don’t have a standard website, just Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Bandcamp.
(6) How many Shows have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether (Venues or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
We have played exactly 39 shows! I keep track of all shows and milestones on a document called a “Band Resume”. It’s actually kind of helpful. It keeps things in perspective. I do not like playing festivals. I find the waiting exhausting. My preference is to open for national tours coming through our area. One of the biggest shows we played was opening for Cradle of Filth. The crowd was huge, we played well, got a great response and made a bunch of new fans.
(7) What is your songwriting process?
I start with riffs. Once I have about three or four riffs that flow together, I can usually produce a whole song. Then I use Ez Drummer to write drum parts and if I like where the song is going, I add bass parts. The final process is writing lyrics. Then I show the band the song and take feedback. It’s sort of like writing an essay. You have a rough draft that you edit and revise until you have a final draft. Sometimes, though not often, I trash the rough draft cause it sucks!
(8) How would you describe your single OATH OF SUPREMACY?
That song has more of a death metal feel to it, which was intentional. I was inspired by bands like Hate Manifesto and Wargrinder, and I was going for a war metal vibe. It’s a heavy one!
(9) What are the main themes or messages in your lyrics?
War (both ancient and modern), philosophy of battle, mythology, Armageddon. As I mentioned before I try to be descriptive in my lyrics, as if you were witnessing the combat, but I also write about the philosophy of warfare. I do not, however, do research or write stories (like Sabaton or King Diamond). The lyrics are lyrics, not essays or concept stories.
(10) Do you have endorsements that you want to talk about or share?
No, but if Jackson guitars wants to endorse me, I would love that, as I am a huge fan of their guitars!
(11) Would you like to share any shows or festivals coming up?
At this point we are sort of rebuilding the band. Our drummer, Max Colunga, died in November of 2023. The drummer before him, Rick Hernandez, rejoined in October of 2025. We just started rehearsing again and are not ready for any shows. But I hope to start playing out again in Spring of 2026.
(12) How and where can your fans contact you? What about you and social networks?
You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Bandcamp. To contact us, it’s best to message us through Facebook. Thanks for the interview!
