Interview with the band OUTSHINE

(1)To kick things off, tell our audience a bit about the origin story of Your band “OUTSHINE” —How did it all begin for you guys, and what’s the biggest inspiration behind the new Album?

– It started back in 1996 in our hometown in a small village of Smålandsstenar, Sweden. We were into Type O Negative, Depeche Mode, Metallica and wanted do play music. So it was a blend of that that inspired. Also when Paradise Lost came out with “One Second” it was a big inspiration. Fast forward 30 years and it is only the founder Jimmy Boman still around (vocals and guitars and song writer). The album is written to go back to the roots more but still have hooks in it. It is also influenced about the biased media and all brainwashing from politicians and elites, and celebrities being used (or plain un-educated 😊) telling people what to think and do. The album is about that the common man need to wake up, don´t just swallow that is being spoon fed to you but to challenge yourself and do some research, not only in your preferred “news outlet”.

(2) Who took the lead on the lyrics for “Sweet Dreams,” and what was the spark that brought that track to life?

– “Sweet Dreams” is a cover on Eurhythmics icon song “Sweet dreams”. I put it into the Outshine grind to get the darkness and gloom out of it more. We´re big fans of 80ties music!

(3) How has the songwriting evolved for the upcoming album “TRUTHSAYER”

– Making sure it is balanced, light and heavy back and forth, written to accommodate the lyrics and have great hooks in it. Back to the roots with the dark, gloom touch to it. A bit film Noir touch on it

(4) What is your songwriting process for the new album “TRUTHSAYER” album?

– I (Jimmy Boman) have written all songs, but the drums and arrangements “grew” in the studio. Some of the songs the drummer hadn´t even heard prior to entering the studio 😊 The idea from me was to “catch the moment” and not over-engineer it to much.

(5) What are the main themes or messages in your lyrics?

– The lyrics nfluenced about the biased media and all brainwashing from politicians and elites, and celebrities being used (or plain un-educated 😊) telling people what to think and do. When 1600 elites and “leaders” flight to Davos in their private jets and then standing in the World Economic Forum lecturing common people they should fly, eat meat, think like this or that… and then fly back to their mansions in thier privat jets… well f—k that!

The album is about that the common man need to wake up, don´t just swallow that is being spoon fed to you but to challenge yourself and do some research, not only in your preferred “news outlet”. They want the common man to fight so the elites can get away with whatever.

(6) Who came up with the cover art for the new single “Sweet Dreams”?

– I (Jimmy Boman) has designed it all. I´m into art and design and the idea that the women/nun are representing the “Truthsayer” but the “Truthsayer” can anyone of us. It is when we see clarity, both sides of the coin or whatever point, that is when you are entering into another state, a state of being “Truthsayer”.

(7)Do you find your energy translates better in an intimate club venue or a massive festival setting? Also, which show stands out as your all-time favorite?

– Of course we like the bigger scenes. Best memories has been the tours with Paradise Lost 2013 & 2018. Also all our US Tours has been fantastic throughout the years!

(8) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?

– Type O Negative, Depeche Mode, Paradise Lost, Portishead, Metallica, Tiamat etc

(9) Who would you most like to collaborate with?

– Rick Rubin would been great 🙂

(10) What is the metal scene in Sweden like?

– Not good, the Gothenburg sound and all that is very limited and depressed. Not all the same like 10-15 years ago.

(11) Do you have endorsements that you want to talk about or share?

– My good friend Cameron Kellenberger at CTW Music outside Milwaukee, WI is a great friend and we´ve done some amazing things together throughout the years! Also his bands Carbellion & Higgins we´ve teamed up with many times.

(12) Would you like to share any shows or festivals coming up?

– US Tour in September 2026 in WI, MN, IL area! Also release parties in Sweden not yet confirmed.

(13) How and where can your fans contact you? What about you and social networks?
