Everyone lives their lives and time somehow doesn’t seem real. It’s hard for me to believe it’s been 9 years since this album was released. Where has the time gone? At any rate, I wanted to shine light on this album, as it’s one of my favorites.
I will preface this that I have a personal connection to this album; as I recorded the gang vocals on “Lessons Not Learned In Blood Are Soon Forgotten” and “Brotherhood” I have found memories of having 60 plus people in my small studio recording vocals and having an excellent time.
From the onset, it’s clear that the band has a message to convey, and they do so with unapologetic force and aggression. The album’s title itself speaks to a harsh truth, and it sets the tone for the blistering tracks that follow. Let’s dive in shall we!
“Welcome To The Family” kicks off the album like a sledgehammer to the face, a volatile welcome to the warzone. There’s no easing into this – it’s full throttle from the get-go, a sonic pummeling that leaves you reeling.
“Lessons Not Learned In Blood Are Soon Forgotten” is an anthem, an ode to those who need to wake the hell up and face reality. With a runtime of just a minute thirty, it’s a concise and explosive statement, like a punch to the throat.
“You Lose” and “I Despise” don’t slow down. These tracks make it clear that if you’re not with Cold Existence, you’re against them, and you’ll be left in the dust. Fierce, angry, and uncompromising, these songs are a challenge to anyone who thinks they can stand in their way.
“Brotherhood” and “Revenge is a Promise” are the anthems of defiance. There’s no room for weakness here. These tracks are a rallying cry for the strong, the determined, and the ruthless.
And “Lester Diamond”? Oh, don’t even get me started. This track is the apex, the culmination of all that came before, a testament to the band’s sheer audacity and unyielding commitment to their craft.
Is this album for everyone? Hell no. It’s a brutal, unapologetic masterpiece that doesn’t give a damn about your comfort or your delicate sensibilities. It’s a declaration of war, a call to arms for those willing to join the fray.
Cold Existence has created a monster, and it’s one that continues to rage on, undeterred by the passage of time. If you’re not ready for it, stay out of the way, because this beast shows no mercy.
9 years on, and “Lessons Not Learned In Blood Are Soon Forgotten” still stands tall, defiant, and unbroken. Get on board or get wrecked. The choice is yours.
