Interview with KOSUKE HASHIDA

(1) Could you tell our readers about your band KOSUKE HASHIDA? – What kind of music do you perform, when was it established, etc.?

KOSUKE HASHIDA is one-man extreme metal project based in Japan. The music is rooted in grindcore and death metal, with strong noise influences. It was established as a personal outlet to create uncompromising music without limitations, and Moment Of Silence represents the most focused expression of that vision so far.

(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?

I was influenced by bands such as Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Lock Up, Nasum, Morbid Angel, and early extreme metal and grindcore records. I’m especially drawn to albums from the late ’90s and early 2000s that balanced brutality with strong songwriting and production.

(3) Who came up with the cover art for the album Moment Of Silence?

The core concept came from me. I wanted the artwork to reflect tension, suppression, and sudden collapse rather than something purely graphic. I worked closely with the artist to make sure the visual direction matched the atmosphere of the album.

(4) Who wrote the lyrics for your new album, how did they come to be?

Rather than traditional lyrics, the vocal parts are constructed from fragmented screams and vocal textures. These elements are arranged and edited to function as emotional signals rather than narrative content. The focus is not on words, but on conveying states of pressure, anger, and psychological collapse through sound itself.

(5) Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the graphics and the website?

The logo was created in collaboration with the artist Through The Bones, whom I discovered on Instagram. It was developed alongside the album artwork to ensure a unified visual identity.

(6) How many Shows have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether (Venues or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

his project has not been performed live yet. It was conceived primarily as a studio-focused project, where sound design and atmosphere could be pushed to their limits without compromise. If brought to the stage in the future, it would likely favor intimate venues where the intensity and density of the sound can be fully experienced rather than large festival settings.

(7) What is your songwriting process?

Songs usually start with guitar riffs and rhythmic ideas. From there, I build the structure, focusing on tension and flow. Once the foundation is set, I develop the remaining elements and finalize vocals  to serve the overall atmosphere.

(8) How would you describe your band’s sound?

Fast, aggressive, and oppressive. It combines the discipline of grindcore with the chaos of noise, aiming for a sound that is both physically punishing and emotionally heavy.

(9) What are the main themes or messages in your lyrics?

The album doesn’t rely on conventional lyrics to communicate its themes. Instead, meaning is conveyed through sound, atmosphere, and contrast. Moment Of Silence focuses on states such as pressure, isolation, suppression, and sudden collapse, allowing listeners to project their own interpretations rather than being guided by explicit words.

(10) Do you have endorsements that you want to talk about or share?

There are no official endorsements at the moment.

(11) Would you like to share any shows or festivals coming up?

There are no confirmed shows or festivals to announce yet.

(12) How and where can your fans contact you? What about you and social networks?

Fans can follow and contact the project through Bandcamp and major social media platforms under the name KOSUKE HASHIDA, where news, releases, and updates are regularly posted.
