Over the years, Galicia, Spain’s BLOODHUNTER have established themselves as a force within the extreme metal scene through a combination of aggression, melody, and a strong artistic identity. Fronted by Diva Satanica, the band continues to evolve while maintaining the intensity that has defined their sound since the beginning.
With Sons of the Abandoned, BLOODHUNTER deliver what is described as their most personal and honest album to date. While previous releases explored themes rooted in history, power, and human conflict, this new record turns inward, examining identity, personal struggles, vulnerability, and the challenges of staying true to one’s own path in an increasingly disconnected world.
Musically, the album expands upon the band’s established formula. Crushing riffs and aggressive passages are balanced by groove-driven sections and melodic moments, creating a dynamic listening experience built on contrast. Throughout the record, moments of speed and fury are paired with atmosphere and melody, allowing the songs to breathe without sacrificing intensity.

Several tracks stand out for both their musical and lyrical direction. “The Outspoken” and “Masters of Deceive” serve as declarations of authenticity and self-determination, while “The Threshold Of Hell” tackles humanity’s inability to move beyond violence and war. The title track, “Sons Of The Abandoned,” captures the uncertainty and frustration of a generation searching for meaning amid chaos and superficial values.
“The Path That Never Ends” receives an added dimension through a guest appearance from Laura Guldemond of BURNING WITCHES, reinforcing the song’s themes of perseverance, ambition, and doubt. The instrumental piece, “The Night Is Darker Before Dawn,” highlights the band’s continued technical development, while tracks such as “The Devil’s Own,” “Ephemeral Youth,” “No One Beats Death,” “Code Aeternam,” and “Human Insecticide” help round out a diverse and emotionally driven collection of songs.
Additional guest vocals from Fernando Ribeiro on “The Threshold Of Hell” further enhance one of the album’s central compositions, adding another layer to its exploration of conflict and human nature.
With Sons of the Abandoned, BLOODHUNTER continue to push their sound forward while remaining rooted in the aggression and intensity that define the band. The album presents a balance of heaviness, melody, and introspective themes, showcasing a group willing to evolve while staying true to its core identity.
