(1) Could you tell our readers about your band Glorious Bankrobbers? – What kind of music do you perform, when was it established, etc.?
The band was established i the early 80´s. Frustration and happiness in our early youth years, with a bunch of idols to look up to in the rock and punk scene, made us start the band. Bands like Iggy and stooges, Aerosmith and AC/DC inspired us to rock as hell. We put the band together in our late drummers garage, but got chased out of his angry parrot…We also use to hit the streets in Stockholm theese years, in lots of crazy nights, chasing eldery people with freworks and gunpowder toy guns. We were also hanging upside down in the ceiling in the pubs restrooms and threw bear all over the guest, and as you can imagine, we were never at the same place more then a couple of minutes… But it all use to end up in some new nasty rock´n roll songs….
(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?
As mensioned above… Iggy, Aerosmith, AC/DC and some similar bands..Motleys first album was a kicker..!
(3) Who came up with the cover art for the single Intruder ?
It was Jonas, the guitarrist, He´s been working with these kind of things all his life, beside the music… he knows the stuff and have good ideas. But it was a friend to Jonas that draw the skeleton cowboy… It has been a logo profile we´ve been using over the years.
(4) Who wrote the lyrics for your new album Intruder ?
Me (Olle) did… Its aboat Intruders in general, but more specific bad intruders that comes into releationships and want to attract one or the other of the parts… It often end up in catastrophys . I´ve seen much of that..
(5) Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the graphics and the website?
As mensioned above….
(6) How many Shows have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether (Venues or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
I guess a couple of hundreds over the years, but in fact not as many as some other Swedish rock bands. We have had some longer breaks, over the years, which has affected that. But we played some cool gigs in NYC in the early 90´s, I think that was when we was on top with our hit song, Dynamite sex dooze. We played a big venue back in Stockholm with Yngwie Malmsteen, in that period, and that was a great success as well. We did some festivals and TV shows in the late 80´s and earfly 90´s. But then we didn´t tour before 2007/8 when we released the album ”The Glorious sound of Rock´n roll” and got gigs together with Nazareth, White Lion, Mustach and others… But now we are on track again and hope for new fat tours to follow up ”Intruder”.
(7) What is your songwriting process?
Well, as a songwrighter I often like to test my new ideas as fast as I could, and we are privileged to have our own studio at our drummers woodo place. So everytime I come up with a new song, we see each other in the band and try to record some stuff. We actually did the whole of ”Intruder” that way… It´s working great. I have been making songs, ever since the early school years.. My eldery brother was a songwrighter as well, so I guess that it runs in our family… I just cant let go of wrighting songs..
(8) How would you describe your band’s sound?
I think that we have, together with our producer team, created a sound on ”Intruder” that is in line with the bands attitude.. Raw, powerful, actionrock that suit the live scenes. We are using very little of the modern effects.. Just the raw marchall rock´n roll sound… Last gig the sound technician asked us if we wanted to use ”in ears”… we said that we didn´t know what it was… The guitarist Jonta tried it, but it just fell out of his ears and he couldnt here anything throughout thge gig… Tha tells the story… No more in ears, just the sound from amps and drums..
(9)What are the main themes or messages in your lyrics?
Actually, in the early years of GB, the lyrics was all about party, dynamite sexy girls and cars.. Nowdays, just the same.. Kidding, when you are getting older your perspectives´s changing, not that you have to dig deep, but you are more interested in yourself, and that mirrors in the lyrics. Like: belive in yourself, try to keep up with a good relationship, you´re not as strong as you think, the master is not living up in clouds, he´s somewhere inside yourself, dont invest in guns, invest in the future ..and such stuff… I think that kind of issues is more relevant theese days.
(10) Do you have endorsements that you want to talk about or share?
No more endorsements than to listen to our latetst album Intruder and be kind to each other
(11) Would you like to share any shows or festivals coming up?
I was on a show with the fantastic Swedish action punk band the Hives last weekend… Great stuff, go and sse them, if you´ll get the chance.. They will fill you with energy, just the same as I hope that GB will do!
