Interview with Slaughterday

(1) Could you tell our readers about your band Slaughterday ? – What kind of music do you
perform, when was it established, etc.?

Slaughterday was founded in 2010 with the goal of playing exactly the old-school Death
Metal we loved during our teenage years. Since then, we’ve released five full-length albums
and several EPs.

(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?

We were inspired by the Death Metal of the late ’80s and early ’90s. That’s exactly the vibe
we want to capture. As our band name suggests, Autopsy is certainly one of our biggest
influences, along with classic U.S. bands like early Death and Massacre.

(3) Who came up with the cover art for the EP – Terrifed?.

The cover and logo of Terrified were handcrafted by our good friend Thomas Westphal
(Necromaniac Artworks). He has created artworks and illustrations for us several times in the
past. The original band logo is also his work.

(4) Who wrote the lyrics for your new EP, how did they come to be?

Most of the lyrics were written by me (Bernd). This time, however, Jens contributed lyrics for
the first time as well. The lyrics on this EP are very reality-based. They deal with themes
such as fear, nuclear destruction, the technologization of humanity, and the downfall of
mankind.

(5) Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the graphics and the website?

As mentioned before, Thomas Westphal created the logo. When it comes to the artwork, we
try to work with different artists, depending on which style inspires us at the moment. We
handle the website ourselves but get support from a good friend whenever needed.

(6) How many Shows  have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether (Venues
or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

So far, we’ve played around 70 shows. Both small venues and larger festivals have their own
appeal. We’ve definitely had great shows in both settings — it doesn’t depend on the size of
the stage.

(7) Why an EP and not a full length full album?

These four songs are different from what we’ve released before as Slaughterday. They’re
fast, short, and less intricate. Also, there are no guitar solos. From the start, it was clear that
these songs were meant to be released as an EP. For the next full-length album, we’ll return
to our familiar style.

(8) Can you tell us about the name of the EP Whats the Inspiration behind it?

The name of the EP is a reference and homage to Horrified by Repulsion. These four songs
are a tribute to classic grindcore bands like Repulsion and early Napalm Death — a time
when grindcore was defined by raw aggression and the pure energy of the musicians rather
than technicality. We’d wanted to do something like this for quite some time. The song
Terrified deals with manipulation and control through the instrument of fear — in the form of
constant horror reports and terrifying scenarios presented by the media.

(9) Can you tell us about the metal scene in Germany?

The metal scene in Germany is more vibrant than ever. In Germany, there are countless
bands representing every metal subgenre. There are many different performance
opportunities for bands of all sizes, including smaller venues for the Death Metal scene.
Almost every weekend, you can catch a show somewhere within a 100 km radius. In recent
years, the underground scene has become particularly well-organized and professionalized.

(10) Do you have endorsements that you want to talk about or share?

No, we don’t have any notable endorsements. Maybe there are some companies out there
who’d be interested — feel free to get in touch 😉

(11) Would you like to share any shows or festivals coming up?
There are a few shows we’re really looking forward to. One festival we’re especially excited
about is the first Testimony Records Festival at the end of January 2026, where, alongside
many great Testimony bands, Asphyx will be headlining. We’ll be playing as the co-headliner.

(12) How and where can your fans contact you? What about you and social networks?

Fans can reach out and connect with us through all major social networks relevant for bands,
such as Facebook, Instagram, or by email. Of course, you can always find us at the merch
stand or the bar after our shows. Just come up and talk to us.
