Interview with A.Y.M

(1)Could you tell our readers about your band A.Y.M ? – What kind of music

do you perform, when was it established, etc.?

We are five music nerds between the ages of 30 and 40 and have been involved in music pretty

much our entire lives, some of us at a higher level than the other. But we have all gathered solid

experience over the years and played in different places around the world. Various coincidences

made our paths cross and the result was A.Y.M! Now we are making a joint effort to ensure that

The Heavy Metal scene is stronger than ever!

I would probably describe our music as classic heavy metal with some melodic elements. We

i would like to highlight our sources of inspiration with our music without wanting to be a rip-off.

We still want to do it in our own way!

(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?

We all have five completely different musical backgrounds, our guitarists come from a much

heavier background and have mostly stayed within death and metalcore, as has our drummer and

largely bassist too. It’s more the singer who comes from the more “classic” Heavy Metal scene

with Ozzy and Black Sabbath. But a couple of bands that we often come back to as a big source of

inspiration for us together are probably Hammerfall and Judas Priest!

(3) Who came up with the cover art for the EP, Are You Ready?

We came up with it together and we all had different inputs that ultimately gave the end result and

we were really happy with it!

(4) Who wrote the lyrics for your new album, how did they come to be?

The basics of the lyrics were written by our singer Alex, but in the development to the finished

result we were all involved equally!

(5) Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the graphics and

the website?

The first logo was made by our singer Alex, but then we developed it together. The rest of the

graphic pieces were mostly made by our guitarist Tony, who is fantastic at those pieces. He also

designed our website and is the one who takes care of it 100%. He is invaluable in many ways

when it comes to such things!

(6) How many Shows have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer,

whether (Venues or festivals) and which of your performances would you

consider as the best?

Unfortunately, we haven’t had any gigs together in A.Y.M yet. There has been a lot of focus on

rehearsing all our songs, because we have a lot of them! But if a gig comes up, we will definitely

not turn it down and we can guarantee that we give a show that will tear the stage apart!

What type of gig do we prefer? Oh, that’s a difficult question..the more people in the audience the

better. Then whether it’s a club gig or a festival, it doesn’t really matter.

(7)What is your songwriting process?

It’s a little different from time to time and from song to song. Most of the time it’s been one of us

who has an idea for a song, plays it in the rehearsal room and then we develop it together.

Sometimes something pops up when we’re standing in the rehearsal room. Nothing unique in that

sense. What’s so nice is that we all work so well together and that we complement each other in

such a great way, it makes it a lot easier when we develop the songs!

(8) How would you describe your band’s unique sound?

I would probably like to describe it this way, that all our music has been heard before in one way

or another. But what we do is perhaps different from many other bands as we try not to be rip-offs

of those who originally inspired us. We try to pay tribute while trying to make something of our

own out of it. The fact that we can then play, mix and produce our music ourselves makes a huge

difference in that we can control the sound we want.

But above all, there are five musicians in the band with a fantastic talent and ability to create

awesome melodies, that’s what’s most important!

(9) What are the main themes or messages in your lyrics?

On the EP it’s pretty spread out, there’s probably no theme or anything. But overall in the songs

that we’re rehearsing right now it’s probably quite a classic theme, there’s a lot of medieval stories,

epic tales and things like that. Then if we have any special messages and stuff..I don’t

know…heavy metal is fun as hell and we know we’re good at it…that’s it..haha..

(10) Do you have endorsements that you want to talk about

or share?

Not at the moment, The band is still young and if something were to show up we will defenately

take it in to consideration.

(11) Would you like to share any shows or festivals coming

up?

As mentioned above, unfortunately we haven’t had any gigs yet, but even in that regard, our

manager is working hard to promote us, and so are we. We are rehearsing our new songs in full

swing and will be ready to go into the studio again soon to start recording our album. But we want

to go out and play and show people who we are. Unfortunately, there are no gigs planned as we

speak.

(12) How and where can your fans contact you? What about you and

social networks?

Anyone can always reach us on our social media through our official accounts. We also have a

webpage where you can contact us and we are always eager to answer everyone who messages us.
