Interview with Bergfried

(1) Could you tell our readers about your band Bergfried? – What kind of music do you perform, when was it established, etc.?

Bergfried is existing as a duo since 2022 and we play a mix of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and AOR. We started as a more folkish Heavy Metal project, but it somehow turned into a Meat Loaf-worshipping band.

(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?

Meat Loaf, Pat Benatar, Bonnie Tyler, Queen, ABBA, etc. are the first ones that come to mind, but the urge to play music myself and start a band just came naturally when I began playing guitar at 11 years old. We started our first punk band, and at some point, I got more into Metal and Hard Rock, so I started recording songs by myself.

(3) Who came up with the cover art for the album Romantik III?.

That was Aaron Lawrance. I just gave him the story and a bit of background, and he created something incredibly magnificent, and I still can’t believe it when I look at it.

(4) Who wrote the lyrics for your new album, how did they come to be?

The lyrics were written by me (Erech) and they continue the epic love story, which started on Romantik I.

(5) Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the graphics and the website?

The logo was created by Mikhael Feliks, and our social media accounts are taken care of by me (Erech).

(6) How many Shows  have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether, Venues or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

None. We are only a studio project.

(7) Can you tell us about the name of the new album, What’s the Inspiration behind it?

Romantik is the German word for Romanticism, not just ‘romantic’, and this is the third installment of the Romantik series. It brings a certain amount of imagery and references with it, which we’d like to invoke in our music.

(9) What is your songwriting process?

The first songs for this album were already written in 2022, so even before the release of Romantik II. Usually I start with a riff or a vocal line and build the song from there. When this is done, I send it over to Anna for vocals.

(10) How and where can your fans contact you? What about you and social networks?

We are on Instagram and Facebook. You can find us under @bergfriedofficial. Thanks a lot for the interview!
