(1) Could you tell our readers about your band Archaic Thorn?
What kind of music do you perform, when was it established, etc.?
Here is M.F. doing bass and vocals in Archaic Thorn. C.L. (guitars) and me
started in 2010 jamming together and one year later T.R. (drums) joined our
force and we founded the band. We play archaic and ancient Metal of Death.
(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?
Nowadays the same bands as in our early stage of exisctence. Mainly
ancient death metal for exampe Morbid Angel, Grotesque, Sadistic Intent
and the likes but also early Slayer and Sepultura have an impact on us.
(3) Who came up with the album cover?
The cover of our new album & quot;Malicious Spears" was born out of our desire
to best represent our music and the album title. After we had developed and
implemented our visions, we contacted the infamous ROK, who was willing
to execute our vision and design the entire album artwork. He did a fantastic
job, and the cover fits our music perfectly. All the lettering was also
handcrafted by our good friend S.Voyd, who also did an excellent job. This
made this album a complete piece of art..
(4) Who is responsible for all the lyrics on the album?
They come to me in various life situations. Sometimes at home in a moment of silence, sometimes on
vacation or at work, for example. I don't have to be in a particular mood to
write lyrics. Sometimes I have to think about and sometimes they come to
me randomly. But most of the time I write down all my thoughts on a
specific topic I want to write lyrics about, and then I shape them into lyrics,
for example a new song that's already instrumentally finished.
(5) Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the
graphics and the website? What about you and social networks?
I designed the band logo myself, and then a graphic designer friend of us
slightly tweaked it. It finally got the logo we first used on our EP and still
use today. C.L. primarily takes care of the website design. As a band, we
don't use any social media other than YouTube. We have our website, where
you can find all the important information about the band.
(6) How many Shows have you played? Which type of gigs do you
prefer, whether (Venues or festivals) and which of your performances
would you consider as the best?
We've played around 25 concerts so far. We prefer playing in small clubs or
small venues, as that's where the atmosphere comes across best. Our last two
performances, at a festival in Thuringia and a club concert in
Wermelskirchen, were really good and I'd also call them our best til now.
(7) who came up with the name of the new album?
It was our idea as a band to name the entire album after the last song on it.
It fits our style and perfectly represents the aggressive and unbridled spirit of the
album.
(8) What is your favorite song to play live?
You can choose any song of the new album and you will have it.
(9)What bands are you currently listening to?
Recently I listened to two classic albums: Sepulturas „Schizophrenia“ and Carcass
„Reek of Putrefaction“
