Interview with Chronicler of Ardul

1) Could you tell our readers about your band Chronicler of Ardul ? – What kind of music do you
perform, when was it established, etc.?

Chronicler of Ardul is symphonic death metal and started in 2023. It is a concept project telling an epic
dark fantasy story set in Ardul.

(2) Which bands or artists inspired you to play music?

My first musical inspiration was Metallica, especially their S&M concert album. I am also deeply inspired
by video game composers like Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Nishiki, and Koji Kondo.

(3) Who came up with the cover art for the Single Sounds of Ardul?

I took the photo for the cover art. There is a cool nature preserve in my area and I love the sort of
imagery of it depicts of going through a portal.

(4) Who wrote the lyrics for your new album, how did they come to be?

I wrote all the lyrics on the album, with a little bit of alterations from Sofia Frasz on “Watch Over Me.” I
took a perspective of what it would be like to be a bard playing their music in a tavern, help a little bit
with world building, and just tell some stories of what their lives are like.

“Watch Over Me” is about a traveler getting lost and facing the dangers of the wilds. “You’re Gone” is a
tragic love song. And if you’re going to write some tavern music, you gotta write a drinking song, and
that’s what “Oh Me Oh My” is.

(5) Who created the logo for the band, and who takes care of the graphics and the website?

Carina Logos did my logo. On my website I’ve used art either from my previous releases, Myrewood and
Sword of Virné. Everything else was done by me.

(6) How many Shows have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether (Venues or festivals)
and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Chronicler of Ardul hasn’t performed any shows. Would love to someday though!

(7) What is your songwriting process?

It depends on what I’m writing for. On Myrewood and Sword of Virné, I came up with the concept and
story, then made an outline. After that I broke those into workable songs and write the lyrics. From
there I try to write and compose in a cinematic nature to make the music sound like what the story is
telling.

On Sounds of Ardul, I tried to capture the emotional feeling of the places or situations, thinking about
melodies, instrumentation, and rhythms.

(8) Who would you most like to collaborate with?

This is a hard a question, I’ve made so many friends that I would love to work with. But I think at the top
of my list is Ben Duerr from Shadow of Intent. I’ve seen him do so many collaborations, I am hopeful I
can do one as well.

(9) What are the main themes or messages in your lyrics?

Myrewood is about how the forest was corrupted, and Sword of Virné is about the creation of the blood
thirsty sword. Beyond that, it’s all world building to different degrees of scope. Sometimes it’s epic with
huge battles and a dragon, down to losing a romantic partner.

(10) Do you have endorsements that you want to talk about or share?

I don’t have endorsements, but maybe in the future that could happen.

(11) Would you like to share any shows or festivals coming up?

No shows yet! Maybe this year I can work to get it on stage finally.

(12) How and where can your fans contact you? What about you and social networks?

I can be reached on Instagram, TikTok, and Threads. I also have aYouTube channel where I have my
music and lyric videos.
